I can't believe how behind on blogging I've been! Believe it or not, I've gotten myself a cold in the middle of this hugely busy season, so I've just been focusing on resting and getting better so that I can keep working hard until things slow down this fall! For all of my clients waiting to see blog entries, I promise you I'm working on it!

Today I have Andrew's senior portraits to share. I received a call from his mom, Nancy, about how disappointed she was with his yearbook photos, and that she really wanted some images to remember her son's personality before he moves out to attend college up north! Here are some of my favorite images from our session, which took place at a park in Andrew's neighborhood as well as in his bedroom.

You may remember the first post I made two weeks ago sharing one of Brad's photos from the shoot we did with him. Well, I finished his processing and am so happy with the results. Like the first photo that I retouched, I used a lot of textures to tell Brad's story, and I am very pleased with the result. I hope you enjoy these photos as well:

We had a chance to do a photo session with David, a bright young man interested in being an actor. We took some fun photos and also worked on some that could be used for head shots for his acting portfolio. Here are two of my favorites from the shoot:

The use of textures is creating a hot new look in photography lately. Photographers and clients alike are really into the "distressed look" that many textures can provide. Images that look distressed, old, or are in shades of black and white or sepia often make us feel nostalgic, which is why we tend to like that look so much.

I decided that I was not to be left out of the action, so I recently started playing around with some free textures that I found on Texture King and I also purchased some incredible fine art textures by Jesh de Rox, an award-winning photographer.

This photo, from our portrait session with Brad the other night (at an awesome abandoned car wash!), came out of my experiments using textures for the first time. I really like how it turned out. I hope to turn out more like this soon!

Remember that summertime in South Florida is a great time to do portrait sessions because it stays light out until about 8:30pm or so. If you work and can't afford to take an entire afternoon off to do your portrait session or bridal/engagement session, consider booking a session in the next month to take advantage of the fantastic light that we get in the evening!
