Out of the office...

Just a quick post to let you all know that I will be out of the office for most of this week.

I will be attending the Life (as an artform) workshop with Jesh de Rox and Lena Hyde at Lena's studio up in West Palm Beach. I will try to return calls and answer email while I am away, but no guarantees until I return, as it's sure to be a very action packed week. I look forward to learning a lot and bringing many new ideas and concepts back to my clients.

Have a great week, see you when I get back!

Tiny Camera Cuteness

This is quite possibly the cutest camera I have ever seen. It's an incredibly miniature Leica digital camera that can be worn LIKE JEWELRY. Only available from Urban Outfitters, it seems! Anyone want to buy me one?

See you in Vegas!

Adrian and I are heading to Las Vegas from Saturday to Thursday, so please bear with me as it might take a couple of days for me to return calls and emails. If it's really urgent, please call (all numbers are forwarding to my cell phone), otherwise I will be returning most calls on the weekend after we get back.

We are going out west for the annual Wedding and Portrait International conference and trade show, where I'll have fun learning (and maybe buying!) new things! The convention will be held at the Paris and Bally's Hotels!

Adrian and his business partner Jason will also be presenting their amazing photography business and client management software, Táve Studio Manager! I'm really excited because I'll be helping them at their booth on the Bally's side, demoing the software to other photographers. I absolutely LOVE meeting new people, so if you're a photographer and you're going to WPPI, please stop by our booth and come say hi to me! You'll get something fun and shiny for your troubles, I promise. :)

If you want to learn more about Tave, you can check out the website or the blog.

I'll also have some time in between the booth hours, so if you're a photographer who wants to meet up, text or call me at 954-993-4961. As I said, I love meeting new people, so feel free to get in touch. If I remember correctly, the little café in the Paris Hotel had yummy coffee! :) And if you're like me... there is never such thing as too much coffee!!

To satisfy your cravings for images, here are a couple cool ones of the Paris & Bally's Hotels that I never posted! They're from last April 2007, when we flew out to see my mother-in-law get married!

What are you doing RIGHT NOW?

The  newest thing with all of my photography bloggers is this online service called Twitter. It's been around for a while, but is just now getting popular, apparently! As you can see by the little "badge" on the right hand side of my blog, I now have a Twitter account too, and you can now follow up with with what I'm doing whenever you want.

Feel free to add me on your Twitter, too. You can find my page and "follow me" by clicking here: twitter.com/karenlisa

Happy New Year!

Adrian and I wish you all a happy, healthy, and successful 2008! We hope that you are all having a lovely time tonight, either relaxing at home with family, or out partying somewhere!

As for us, we've been invited to a small get together thrown by our new friends Ashley & Ben, whose wedding we'll be shooting on April 18th.

Looking back over the past year, I am very thankful to have seen my business grow, met so many wonderful new people, and especially have such amazing clients, many of whom I am very glad to call my friends!!!

Having a close relationship with my clients is really important to me, since my job is to capture images of the most important day of your life, and I feel that my best work is done when we are 100% comfortable with each other.

So, one of my biggest resolutions for 2008 is to get to know YOU better!

Happy New Year to you all!

How do you connect?

I thought I'd share with all of you blog readers that The Wedding Couple has not only a MySpace where we love to connect with our wonderful couples and couples-to-be (as well as our adoring fans...hehe), but we also have a Facebook group! If you have a MySpace or a Facebook account, please add us and don't be afraid to leave comments, which we just love! We'll make sure to tag you in the photos that we post so that you & all of your friends can share in the love.

Take a break from your wedding planning...

and read about someone else's wedding horror stories!

A friend of mine recently passed on to me a link to a website called Etiquette Hell. It has all kinds of horror stories from brides, guests, bridesmaids, family... you name it. Some of this stuff is completely unimaginable! Start with the Titanic Dress story and go on from there.

As a bonus, the site also includes bad etiquette stories about co-workers, businesses, and more.

Check it out. You will be entertained for houuuuurs. I promise.

Fine Art Photography Store

It's been a few days since my last blog post, but I've been working hard trying to finish the processing for a few sessions, trying to get things together for our new office (we'll be open next week! ack!), and finally, I now have an online store where I'm selling my fine art photographs.

The store is hosted through a site called ETSY, a little place on the web catering to small businesses and people who make stuff. Everything on Etsy is handmade, which makes it the perfect place to sell my fine art (plus, it has a pretty neat community too).

My store has some old favorites and a few that have never been seen before online! Images are also available as note cards, which I love since I am crazy about stationary and love to write notes!

Wedding Photojournalism

Wedding "photojournalism" is not new, but it's certainly become more popular over the years. Because of this, an organization was created to promote the best of the best in photographers who shoot in this particular style.

I am very pleased to announce that I have been accepted into the Wedding Photojournalists Association! I am very excited and proud to be a member of such an elite organization that values this unique style of event photography.

Back from Orlando

Adrian and I have returned from our Florida Professional Photographers convention in Orlando. We had a great time! I had the opportunity to attend some exciting sessions and am looking forward to implementing some new things in our business.

I also was able to do a photo shoot with two very talented musicians while up in Orlando. I'm still processing the images, but should have my favorites up in a day or so for you to view.

All in all, it was a very fun, productive, and eye opening trip!

Headed to Orlando

From today until Wednesday, August 29, our availability will be a little limited, as Adrian and I are heading up to Orlando, FL for the annual Florida Professional Photographers convention.

We'll be attending seminars on fashion wedding photography, high school senior photography, travel photography, lighting, and I'll be attending a Women in Business seminar, too. We also will get to go to lots of different social events as well as a trade show! Hopefully, we will be doing a bit of shooting, as well.

I really look forward to mingling with other photographers and making new friends. I think the networking is definitely one of the best parts of going to events like this!

So, if you need to contact us, please continue to call at 954-753-3933 or fill out our contact form. My response time might take a little longer than usual, but I will try to get back to you as soon as I possibly can!

Have an awesome weekend, everyone!

Pi Beta Phi

When I was in college, I was a member of the sorority Pi Beta Phi. Being in a sorority was a great experience - I made lots of friends, always had a safe place to go on campus, and have even networked with other members. I would definitely suggest joining a sorority to anyone entering college. There are so many great benefits!
piphilogo.jpgIt's been a few years since I graduated, and I've decided to finally join my local alumnae group. I went to the club's first meeting of the 2007-2008 year on Friday night and signed up to be the photography chair person! I will be photographing the club's meetings and events, and at the end of the year, I will create a scrapbook - kind of like making a wedding album! :-)

So, in the future, you may see some fun photographs online in the blog from Pi Phi alumnae group events!

Exciting August!

Hi Everyone! August is shaping up to be a very exciting month for us.

We're moving into an office in Coral Springs, Florida in two weeks! We'll be sharing office space with Larry & Ricki of Lawrence of Florida, an entertainment and media company. Our future office will essentially be a one-stop shop for couples looking for a photographer, DJ, band, wedding invitations, imprintables, and perhaps even a videographer in the future. It is a really exciting opportunity for us as well as a great service that we'll be able to offer to our clients, as you'll be able to visit a number of incredible event professionals all in one place.

We've been extremely busy. Between shooting weddings, senior portraits, and trash the dress bridal sessions (of which you'll be able to see images posted on the blog very soon!), we've also been booking up a lot for next summer.

That said, July 2008 is almost booked up for Wedding reservations! If you're planning to get married in July 2008 and you're interested in reserving us as your photographer, now is the time to make an appointment for a consultation. Call us any time at 954-753-3933!

Last but not least, Adrian and I are always attending conventions and workshops so that we can continue to learn more all the time! We will be attending the Florida Professional Photographers state convention at the International Plaza Resort & Spa in Orlando at the end of the month. I am especially looking forward to the sessions about fashion weddings, newborn photography, senior portraiture, and women in business. It will be great to meet up with the other photographers who are attending and I look forward to coming back with a wealth of new ideas!
